Amigurumi is derived from the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. Amigurumi is often written in US terms but for beginners in the UK the pattern is written in English using UK crochet terms. Once you've grasped this, picking up a US term pattern will be no problem.
