Avelana is a triangle shawl featuring different textured stripes and a center spine with a twisted cable motif. Ending with a cosy ribbed border, this shawl makes a good project for using up lonely skeins. Play with three colours of fingering weight yarn and see how the cables, transitions and rib motifs interact or make a single colour version to let every textured motif stand out on its own.
The shawl is knit flat from the top. Increases are made on the sides and in the center. The garter border is worked to keep the top edge elastic. The pattern comes with charts as well as row by row written instructions. Detailed stitch counts are also given for each section.
The sample knit used A Knit Away's Sock yarn in Speckled Hen (C1), Woolenboon's Boon Classic in Dirty Chaï (C2) and Cascade Heritage in Charcoal (C3).
