As light and playful as the pattern of summer rain on the Rhein, this cheerful scarf combines dots and stripes into one whimsical piece. A perfect combination, that of ITO Shio (wool) and Sensai (mohair, silk), make this scarf exquisite both to wear and knit.
The technique is dimensional intarsia, where a thread for the motif is added together with the main thread, rather than switching yarns as in regular intarsia. It creates bubbles and stripes with a delightful, almost ethereal, texture.
Tip: When choosing your yarns, make sure that the two colours of your yarns have a strong enough contrast.
