Product Details

The endless knot (Nodo infinito in Italian) or Shrivatsa is one of the Ashtamangala, the Eight Auspicious Signs in Tibetan Buddhism. The Shrivatsa is a symbol of Samsara i.e., the endless cycle of suffering of birth, death and rebirth within Tibetan Buddhism. But while I designed the shawl I was struck by the similarity this symbol has - once interpreted through knitting - with traditional celtic knots. Nodo Infinito has a “half donut” shape which is worked sideways with short rows. The gentle curve obtained makes the shawl very easy to wear, because it stays put on your shoulder. The intricate closed-ring cabled border is worked together with the body in one piece. This shawl requires some complex manouvres and some attention, but the result is a jewel-like piece of absolute beauty!
