Product Details
Mudcloth, also known as bògòlanfini, is a traditional Malian fabric made with fermented mud. The fabric is worn by hunters, to designate status within local cultures, and during ritual celebrations. Now a symbol of Malian cultural identity, the production of mudcloth is a multi-step process with motifs representing daily life, history, and folklore. This crocheted blanket has been inspired by several iconic mudcloth patterns.
This pattern is part of the “Purposeful Patterns” initiative - a series of designs benefiting a variety of causes. $1 from the sale of each Mudcloth Blanket pattern will be donated to Mali Rising, a foundation dedicated to empowering the children of Mali, West Africa by expanding and improving educational opportunities for them within their own villages.
