Mermaid Sea Princess

Create a cosy mermaid for magical dress up fun, and bring a splash of the ocean to playtime. This doll is dressed for a day at the beach with a bikini top and briefs, skirt, or under the sea with her mermaid tail. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the doll and outfits are knit in acrylic DK yarns working flat (not in the round). A 3.5mm circular needle or pair of DPNs are used to work the tail and skirt pieces flat in a broken seed stitch pattern; note the pieces are not worked in the round but using the circular needle or DPNs allows you to change colour on each alternate row without breaking the yarn at each colour change. Suggested minimum lengths of these needles are 20cm DPNs or 40cm circular. For intermediate knitters and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, short row shaping, and seaming to finish. The doll is 31cm tall from top of head to bottom of feet (without the tail).
