Felted Personalized Pet Placemat

Fun personalized felted placemats for pets that are easy and fun to make. I used stash for the trim and lettering (about 50 yards for the small and 80 yards for the large). Knitting time was about 3 hours for the small. It took overnight to dry after felting. Shown in Lambs Pride but Cascade 200 works well too (1 skein for small, 2 skeins for medium and large). It is easily worked in garter stitch with personalized top work. Top work is a simple attached chain using a crochet hook and the garter loops to form the letters.

A graph is included for 11 by 7 stitch letters. Attached I-cord trim provides a raised edge to hold minor spills. I added a swirl of puffy paint to the bottom for a non-skid surface. There is about 30-40 percent loss of size when felting so it seems oversized while knitting. Cascade 220 has such a wonderful choice of bright colors. Other designs can be added using the same techniques. Have fun!
