Product Details

I really wanted to make a tea cosy from crocheted granny squares or hexagons. when I looked at the existing ones they were not all that exciting and whats more did not look like they would keep the teapot very warm. So I decided to make a knitted petticoat first and then place my knitted motifs over the top. Hexagons seemed to work best as they conformed best to the rounded shape of the pot. Once I put my net of hexagons on top of the petticoat I still had some gaps so I decided to fill these in with just the centres of the hexagons as they are small and quick to make and can easily be overlapped to create an interesting look and texture. Before I knew were I was I had filled in every gap and opening and the cosy looked pretty amazing. It is best to sit your cosy on the tea pot to decorate as then you can really see where your shapes need to go.
