A long time ago, my father would plait three strands of red thread.
The pretty bracelet he made would adorn my wrist: a red talisman meant to protect me while I was a child.
A symbolic and spiritual object, deeply intertwined with paganism and traditional folklore.
A passing on of Ukrainian traditions, an extension of ancestral memory embodied in decorated eggs – pysanky, krashanky – Paska/Babka and other cakes, meats and horseradish.
This is how my story began, which I in turn pass on today.
