    About

Just keeping busy and learning new techniques with bullion stitch.

    Pattern

    Beginner embroidery florals

This pattern can be found here:
    www.etsy.com

    Measurements

Notes: The octagonal hoops are 11 cms wide and 15 cms long. The round hoop is 15 cms diameter. The octagonal hoops are flexi-hoops; wood-effect plastic. The single rose is not quite finished ; I copied the pattern onto clear, water soluble material and embroidered through it onto the linen - I’m just scared to wet it!

Just amazing Helen and embroidered on linen too. I always liked to use that in my cross stitch days and with a high count too it gives such a nice finish. I've also used water soluble as a stabiliser when I was once on a lace making workshop and it dissolved easily. Well done they are both beautiful.

Thanks Christine and sorry for not replying sooner - the site maintenance thing keeps coming up when I log in and the notifications are strange - or I’m getting old I’ve used waste fabric for cross stitch but this stuff is clear and flimsy. It’s good for drawing on or tracing though!

@Hazel H: It's good to know I'm not the only one having problems with the site. I wondered why they'd moved the notifications.
I think it's not been as efficient since they amalgamated and changed it from just love knitting I think the site is too big now and the system cant always cope. I often give up as it takes too long to change a page.😬

@Christine R: It is reassuring to know that other people feel the same way; I tend to get exasperated and just click out too. Maybe they’re trying to improve but it’s not working for the community.

Ah Hazel I wondered where you had got to. These are truly lovely. I love bullion stitch as you can create lots with it and by manoeuvring it can enhance the shape! Brilliant!

Oh, thank you so much Vix; I had never tried bullion stitch before and it’s just a nastier french knot really! I did catch my hands and fingers a few times but it does look pretty. The forget-me -not was my 1st go and I think you can tell.

@Michelle M: sorry for not getting back to you but I think my notifications button has gone! It’s so hot here I’ve dozed off all afternoon. It sounds as if your yp’s are just as ‘responsible’ as ours - the beaches are rammed again today - no social distancing! I’m just getting the spare room ready for you and my yarn for knitted Stella has still not arrived!
