I designed this pattern after searching high and low for the perfect baby earflap hat. The wide and long earflaps cover baby's cheeks, while the slightly lower back completely covers up the back of baby's head to make sure the whole head is toasty warm!
The chevron colorwork can be left out for a great basic hat. With the colorwork, it is a good pattern for an advanced beginner. I like to customize the basic pattern to suit the baby I am knitting for. All yarns used are worsted weight. This is a great opportunity to use up worsted-weight leftovers!
