The Slip Jig Scarf is the fifth pattern added to the "All the Jigs and Reels" series.
The slip jig is most often the fourth dance learned; the last of the softshoe dances before both starting hardshoes and more complex softshoe choreographies. Its 9/8 time signature is unique and learning to count it takes a bit of doing! It is “the ladies’ dance” and the music is often ethereal; the dancer appears to float above the stage.
The Slip Jig Scarf takes its patterning from the 5s used to move side to side in a slip jig, rather than the 7s found in reels and standard jigs. Worked in DK weight yarn, I chose to represent the light and airy qualities of slip jig music with lace rather than cables. There are both written and charted instructions included.
