Produktdetails
Sherwood is a hooded cowl inspired by the hip of the Middle Ages, as oft seen in medieval illustration & paintings. This practical and elegant garment was worn from the 12th to 15th centuries in much of Europe, and can be just as functional and stylish today!
This is part of a series, because it turns out they are weirdly addictive. Be warned. More coming soon.
Challenge level: quite.
The crenellations at the bottom edge are quite challenging to knit in some rows. An extra long and flexible circular needle is required (120cm if possible), or failing that, a second set of needles (though one tester did manage with a hair raising number of DPNs.
Sizing is adaptable - the depth of the hood can be adjusted to your preferred measurements, and the hood can be lengthened by working more rows before closing the chin.
You will also need an embroidery needle to graft or sew a handful of sts at the chin.
The pattern is written for 300-700m of DK to worsted weight yarn.
Pictured hood used 560m.
