Shatar (Mongolian - “chess”) Vest is a modern take on a classic fair-isle vests, design to be unisex in fit and style. Traditional geometric Colorwork pattern, reminiscent of a grid or chess board, is knit in two high-contrasting colors of Fingering weight yarn. Close-fitting design can be worn with 0 up to 4 inches of negative ease, proving the fit that is tailored and perfect for layering. While the cropped version is flattering on a female body, the full length version will complement the male form. Construction Overview
1. Body stitches CO and knit in the round, bottom up.
2. Underarm stitches put on waste yarn and Steek stitches CO.
3. V-neck Steek stitches CO.
4. Armhole and V-neck shaping worked seamlessly, in the round.
5. Shoulder shaping worked flat, shoulders seamed.
6. Steeks reinforced and cut.
7. Neck and Armhole ribbing stitches picked up and knit in the round.
