Sesimbra Fisherman´s Sweater

As early as 1201 a document mentions fishing in Sesimbra, where I live in Portugal. To this day, the port with its artisan coastal fishing supplies fresh fish for the capital Lisbon. Although crochet is mainly known as a handicraft in Portugal, the wives of fishermen have always knitted sweaters for their husbands at sea. They use a unique, efficient and joint-friendly knitting technique. This Portuguese way of knitting is taught online by Andrea Wong (andreawongknits) since many years.
