Random Acts of Kindness

Random Acts of Kindness is an elegant and versatile semi circular shawl, embossed by radiating lines of twisted stitches and buds that double and redouble as the rows progress, much the way acts of kindness inspire further kindnesses.

This shawl is an experiment in a gradual Pi, with a simple modular chart which doubles, quadruples, octuples and so on, but it does this gradually, rather than doubling all in a single row as in Barbara Walker’s classic Pi shawl. This is a very simple, yet highly versatile design that works with any yardage and most yarn weights, and can made wider, deeper, or fuller. The shawl is worked in reverse stockinette (purled on the RS & knit on the WS).

The size of the shawl is highly adaptable.

Suits lace to DK weight yarn in any yardage between approx 300m and 3000.

The design can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
