Overlay Mosaic Crochet Square - Birthday Cake

Great for a Birthday wall hanging or pillow - This pattern is for a mosaic crochet square that can be used in other types of projects, such as blankets, pillows, satchel bags, table mats, etc.

Any yarn or hook will work, depending on the desired size of the finished square. I used yarn weight of 4 with a 5.5 hook, which creates a square of 13.5” x 13”.

The sample image uses 3 main colors of yarn, however you could do this in 2 if desired. This is a great way to use up scraps! For projects using 3 colors, (one for the background & 2 for the cake), you will need approximately .5-1 oz of each main color (background, outlines & cake color) for a worsted or aran (wt 4) type of yarn. You will also need a couple yards of yellow for the candle flame.
