Country folk all over the world have a tradition of using every last scrap of fabric to make items for the home. American pieced quilts are an excellent example of this tradition, with fabrics from dresses, shirts and other items patched and sewn into exquisite bedspreads. The design of this blanket emulates these old ways using left-over yarns combined with new ones to produce a stunning one-of-a kind result. Different yarns and dyelots add to the charm of the finished article.
The pattern is written for three different sizes of blanket: a Single/Twin size, a Double/Queen, and a large King-sized blanket. All are sized generously to provide a good fold-back for extra warmth in use and can be worked in one piece or in strips which are later sewn together.
