Mosaicoscope

Mosaicoscope is a mosaic shawl worked “on the bias” creating the illusion of reflected shapes inside a kaleidoscope. Mosaic Colorwork is the easiest way to achieve stunning results just slipping a stitch here and there and managing only one color at a time. Here this technique plays with increases and decreases strategically placed to create peaks and valleys and to trick the eye with diagonal lines that actually don’t exist.

Construction

This shawl is a 12-pointed star shawl worked partially in 6 (7, 8) wedges/chevrons shaped by increases and decreases in a way that makes the mosaic look like it’s worked on the bias.

Each chevron has a double increase in the center and a decrease on each side with the exception of one row every 6, so that each wedge gently increases in size during the work.
