The unusual stitch pattern in this hat utilizes a technique in which you pull up a loop from between two stitches creating a smocked appearance. It is very fun to work and easily memorized. Stitch pattern instructions are provided in both chart and written formats and there is a video link for a demonstration **SIZES:**To fit child/adult size XS (S/M, M/L, XL) head or approximately LT 21, (21-22, 23-24, GT24)”/ LT 53 (53-57, 58- 61, GT61) cm head circumference. MEASUREMENTS: 17 (18, 20, 22)” / 43 (46, 51, 56) cm circumference. Sample shown is size S/M. YARN: Approximately 160 (175, 200, 225) yds of dk weight yarn. Sample shown was knit in Cape May Fiber DK Merino in Primrose Inn. GAUGE: 22 sts and 30 rows = 4”/10 cm in st st. 24 sts = 4”/10 cm in stitch pattern. NEEDLES: US 5 (3.75mm) and 6 (4 mm) 16”/ 40.5 cm circular needle and one set of US 6 (4mm) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
