Makara are Hindu mermaids (I ❤ mermaids!) and the guardians of throne rooms and temples. So, the shell spine is totally obvious as well as all the V’s, but did you catch the half shells on the edge and the bubbles in the trim?! Me neither. My hubby pointed them out :))
I specifically designed this shawl to showcase those gorgeous hand-dyed yarns (the bulk of my stash) that I always seem to buy in 3's, but I also discovered that it can be made with just 1 ball of Lion Brand Mandala (another whole shelf in my stash!). Everybody wins!!!
This is an ADVANCED BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE pattern. The Main Body of the shawl is beginner friendly, but the Trim has a special stitch for those "bubbles". Brave Beginners need not fear, though, as I've created a FULL PHOTO TUTORIAL for the whole shawl and the Special Stitch! Beginners will definitely enjoy the very minor challenges of this shawl and more experienced stitchers will love how fun these are to make!
