In addition to a comforting familiar friend, HugKnits Llama can double as a puppet–the head is hollow–a great distraction tool for a fussy or bored baby. Hint: Older children love them too.
These directions are for the HugKnit Llama + a bonus tutorial for picking up the stitches for the head. The blanket portion (finishes approx. 16” when flat) is knit flat in garter stitch for great tactile stimulation, Llama head is knit in the round. Uses worsted weight yarn (make sure its washable); 250 yds off-white worsted weight, 3 yds Black for face detail, 2 yds waste yarn. Uses knitting in the round, Kitchener and Duplicate stitches, easy peasie stuff for intermediate knitter. If you run into trouble, pattern support is always just an email away.
