Independence Ray - Huggable Patriot

Independence Ray--a tribute to the USA flag--is the third creature in my Huggable Travelers line. The 13 stripes on his belly represent the 13 original colonies. The 50 "stars", representing the 50 states, are crocheted into the body as you go, rather than sewn on later. Thus, this is a completely no-sew pattern! His favorite spots are in your arms or against your shoulder. You do have the option of making him Low-Sew, if you'd like to add a smile and/or embroidered eyes. Keep him around all the time, or add him to your holiday pillow rotation. He loves to make a statement.

Materials:

8mm hook

74 grams/ 32.5 yards Jumbo (7) yarn (Red - Loops and Threads Sweet Snuggles)

88 grams/ 38.5 yards Jumbo (7) yarn (White - Loops and Threads Sweet Snuggles)

191 grams/ 83.5 yards Jumbo (7) yarn (Blue - Loops and Threads Sweet Snuggles)

Two 25mm safety eyes, or

If embroidering the eyes and smile:

30” black worsted yarn

12" iris (color) and/or white worsted yarn for eye whites and sparkle
