With the miserable weather outside and the lack of daylight, I try really hard to create the most comforting environment possible inside our family home during the winter, turning it into our little sanctuary for the season, full of simple pleasures and everyday cosiness. One of my absolute favourite things to do is make a hot water bottle for my kid when they get home after a long, tiring school day - a simple act that I hope communicates everything I want them to know (“I’m glad you’re home,” “I’ll look after you,” “you are safe here,” “I love you.”) It was this little wintery tradition that inspired the Heima hot water bottle cover.

To make the cover, you’ll work in the round, starting at the bottom with a Turkish cast on. You'll then work mirrored increases and decreases on the body, to ensure a snug fit around your hot water bottle. The bold stranded colourwork motif is fully charted in the pattern and clear, detailed instructions for the cast on and bind off are also included.
