This is an overlay mosaic pattern.
I created this pattern when I couldn't find one to match my daughters pillows. It was my first attempt at designing.
You could make a whole afghan or just a baby blanket. its an 18 stitch repeat that can be repeated as many times as you wish. All the information you need is in the PDF.

You will need 2 different coloured yarns and could also add tapestry rows of other colours if you wish.
