To make the flowers you need to know how to chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet and half double crochet (US terms). A few flowers are made using magic ring and there's a link to a clear tutorial on how to do this. You'll also find an explanation on how to work cluster stitch and double cluster stitch since they're used in some of the patterns.
