Downtime was designed to be easy to pick up for a few minutes here and there in your downtime (see what I did there?). Downtime uses two skeins (800 yd) of fingering weight yarn in the same color. This shawl is knit side-to-side and features a continuous i-cord edge that is worked as you go. The texture alternates between luxuriously squishy slipped stitch rib and garter stitch, so just when you tire of one stitch you get to switch it up and prevent boredom.
Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but your yarn requirements will differ at a different gauge.
