Cloudfall

This design was created to highlight a gently shifting gradient – one that moves from soft, light shoulder tones into deeper shades at the hem. The long color shifts in Perfect Phasing yarn make that possible and it has a surprisingly light and plushy feel for a worsted weight. Combined with my favorite easy-going, universally flattering silhouette, it became a staple in my wardrobe. A bit of yarn manipulation (so worth it!) preserves an uninterrupted ombré effect throughout the entire sweater. Cloudfall also has a companion piece, the Cloudfall Cardigan.

Cloudfall is knit seamlessly from top to bottom. The back shoulders are knit first, worked back and forth to the underarms and placed on hold. Stitches are then picked up for each front shoulder and worked to the underarms where front and back are joined and knit in the round to the hem. Sleeves are picked up directly from the body and worked in the round to the cuffs.
