    Beschreibung

Many years ago, when I was young, foolish and very pregnant, I made this shawl for my unborn baby. 77 rounds of complexity - I don’t know how I did it but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Finished it before the baby was born, then never used it. The cotton blankets I had seemed so much more practical.
With my nephew’s new baby on the way I dug it out. The new baby, like his siblings, will be christened in my grandfather’s 120 year old christening gown so his parents are going to borrow the shawl to go with it. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it before. It’ll be nice for it to be actually used. It’ll get passed on to my daughter eventually (not just yet - I am in no rush to be a grandma) and perhaps it will be passed on with the christening gown and become an heirloom in its own right.
The dates I’ve given for start and finish dates are approximate - the year is definitely right!

Ohh wow Karen I totally agree with Dianne this is a work of art, I can't believe you used 3ply wool. It is definitely something to treasure, you are very talented.😊💕

Thank you Dianne. I don’t actually remember that much about it - it was nearly 24 years ago! When I dug out the pattern book though I found I had enlarged the pattern onto A3 paper so I could highlight and write all over it - probably the only way to go with something like that! I do remember that I used a nappy pin as a stitch marker - because it was still in it!
