Product Details

Nottingham is a challenging and intriguing hooded cowl inspired by the Middle Ages, and a more elaborate cousin of Sherwood with more everything.

Challenge level: Decidedly. Especially rows 11-13. (The rest is pretty straight forward, if that helps.)

  1. The oak leaves at the bottom edge really are quite challenging to knit in some rows. An extra long and flexible circular needle is required (120cm+ if possible), or failing that, a second set of needles (though one tester did manage with a hair raising number of DPNs.
  2. Sizing is adaptable - the depth & width of the hood can be adjusted as can the size of the cape.
  3. Yardage is somewhat adaptable as both hood & liripipe can be worked to any length.

Requirements:

-700-1000m DK yarn.

-Size 3.5mm (US size 4 - or to suit gauge) circular needles of 150cm/60” or 2 circular needles of 80cm/32”. A shorter length (60-80cm/24-42”) may be easier for the hood and neck.

-3 DPNs for liripipe, 3.5mm (US size 4)

Pictured hood used 560m (700y).
