Cherry trees are such a beautiful part of many English gardens – the gentle flowers, shiny red fruit, slender rings on the bark and glossy oval leaves. This pattern is inspired by the wild cherries near our house – you’ll find a reflection of those leaves in the shape of the bow and the elegantly thin lenticels in the ribbed band.
It’s a super speedy make – maybe 1 hour to complete – that’s also rather therapeutically repetitive as you work your way around and around. The headband is worked flat in the round and in one piece so it’s nice and sturdy as well as simple to create.
You’ll find a stitch guide and photo tutorial throughout to help with construction and technique. It’s a made-to-measure pattern so you can achieve the perfect fit without a gauge swatch.
Style the headband however you wish – even using it to wrap around a ponytail or a bun. But I’ve also included pictures to help you get the perfect bow when you finish the tie.
