Product Details
Skimming stones (more commonly known as skipping stones in the US) is the activity of bouncing a stone across the surface of water. The rules vary as to whether it is the most bounces or the furthest distance with at least 3 bounces that wins.
The cabled 'stones' in this extra long, thick and cozy scarf skim diagonally across the surface in seven bounces from one side to the other. A new stone is sent on its journey every pattern repeat.
The sample used Debbie Bliss Chunky Merino (100% merino superwash; 55 yds/50 m per 50g) which is discontinued. A plied solid colour yarn will show the cables off best. Exact gauge is not crucial but will impact the finished size and the yardage used – the number of cable pattern repeats can be adjusted as required.
The pattern is charted and contains full written instructions.
The scarf uses the Chinese Waitress cast on and bind off - instructions and links included. I recommend using a needle 1 or 2 sizes smaller for the bind off.
