Product Details

Robin is a hooded cowl inspired by the hip of the Middle Ages, as oft seen in medieval painting and illustration.

This practical and elegant garment was worn from the 12th to 15th centuries in much of Europe, and can be just as cosy and functional today!

  1. Sizing is included for shoulder widths of 78-160cm, however the recipe is included so it would be fairly easy to make it larger or smaller as needed.
  2. The hood can be made deeper, longer, or more snug, and the cape can be worked to any length.
  3. Suits 500-700m or more of DK or light worsted weight yarn.
  4. Notions: Size 3.5mm (US size 4 - or to suit gauge) circular needles of 80cm/31” or longer. 3.75mm needles for the colourwork if your colourwork tends to be tight. A second longer circular needle may be useful for the CO and the later rounds of the cape. Also an embroidery needle for grafting chin and seaming the hems.

The pictured hood used 530m (580y) Gobsmacked Silky Yak DK in 2 colours, 450m/480y of C1 (red) & 73m/80y of C2 (olive).
