I had this idea about a whole Mustang horse herd in my mind for a long time, the difficult part being trying to put three colors of horses on it, but at most two colors in one round! I wanted to catch their strenght, wilderness, free spirit and energy...
I still can remember the washing powder with the same name my grandma used. So I got my first inspiration for the beanie there.
The final kick to tackle it came when I had seen the intro of the Deadwood TV series. Whenever I see the horse running, I think of this beanie and that was when I started to knit the already existing draft.
It has a black and white corrugated ribbing, followed by a little zigzag border pattern. Then come the wild running Mustang horses, first the black ones, then the brown ones and in the background you can see the white horses.
There are 12 prancing black stallions fighting for leadership of the group in the upper part of the beanie and right at the top is a beautiful star.
