Product Details
My mother-in-law (Grandma, to my boys and the family at large) has a special afghan her Grandma crocheted for her when she was a young woman. She is also one of the most knit-worthy people in my life, so when it was time to knit her a new pair of socks, I decided to create a wearable version of that special afghan.
For logistical reasons, this pattern is written in one size, which will result in a 8”/20 cm finished circumference when knit at gauge. To make a larger sock, use sport weight yarn and go up a needle size. To make a smaller sock, use a lighter fingering weight yarn and go down a needle size.
This pattern uses a slightly larger needle and a greater number of cast on stitches than vanilla socks to accommodate the ripple pattern.
The number of colors in the striping sequence can be changed to anything you like - every stripe could be a different color. Self-striping yarn would also work well and eliminate color changes and yarn ends.
