The Evil Eye is an idea that goes back thousands of years, and people would create these blue-eyed amulets & decor to protect against their curse. Of course now-days, we see these in costume jewelry and other home decor as a fun bohemian vibe..
This pattern is for an overlay mosaic crochet square that can be used in other types of projects, such as blankets, pillows, satchel bags, table mats, etc. & includes a color-coded chart with all of the X’s marked, as well as full written instructions and links to general instructional videos.
Any yarn or hook will work, depending on the desired size of the finished square. I used yarn weight of 4 with a 5.5 hook, which creates a square of 13.5” x 13”.
If using medium weight #4 yarn, this square takes approximately 200 yards of yarn, total.
