Tension for best fit:
22 stitches/32 rows = 10cm/4 inches square in Stocking Stitch using 3.25mm (US 3) needles.
38 stitches/34 rows = 10cm/4 inches square in Cable Pattern using 3.25mm (US 3) needles.
You can use yarn from your stash as this pattern uses less than a full 50g ball of 8ply DK yarn.
