    About

This is from an old patons pattern Gromit in Porthole.PBN E 2212. I made this with my mum for my nephew nearly 30 years ago!
My grandsons aged 3&7 love W&G and I decided to make them these. It’s meant to be a surprise for their mum but she saw it and has demanded one in her size!
I’ve finished the smaller one and am about halfway through the second one. Last time I made them my mum did the front and I did the rest but I’ve had to do the fronts this time. I have cheated a bit and done intarsia for the large areas and then Swiss darned the details.
I had to make pattern smaller for 3 year sold as pattern starts at 26” chest.

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 3.25mm (US 3)
    • Single Point 4.00mm (US 6)

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle
    • Buttons
    • Stitch Holder
    • Stitch Markers
Other : I made the smaller jumper with a buttoned raglan at the left back to make it more easily taken off.

    Measurements

Notes: My tension is loose so I’ve had to adapt the number of stitches. I was aiming for a goood size with plenty of growing room to last.
I mainly used yarn that I had so many of colours I used no longer available. I’ve given closest I could find.

Well done! They're great! I'm always attracted to intarsia and then go off the idea when it gets difficult! 😆 I don't blame you for doing some duplicate stitch, I did that on my digger and tiger jumpers

Let’s hope so. As I said, intarsia not my favourite. Too many strands all getting tangled - not my idea of fun!

Goodness me, I’m not sure I’d know where to start adjusting the sizing for such a complex design. Gromit is brilliant JaRoo. Just like the real cartoon character. 🤩

Oh thanks, Helen. It’s not as tricky as you might think. I can do it after all! 😉

@JaRoo: well I’ll take your word for it, but I wouldn’t have the patience these days. I made a couple of intarsia jumpers some years ago but could just follow the pattern without having to worry about a different size. But I know what you mean about the tangles! I have a jumper which is all diamonds and used 13 different yarns. I love it but never again. 😂😂

@Helen B: I made 3 matching Argyll pattern waistcoats for my grandsons and daughter as a Mother’s Day surprise. As you say - never again. And that was only 3 different colours! I can’t imagine 13.
