The pattern contains instructions (both charted and written) for both hats.
Do not over-think the cast-on! Once you remove the waste yarn you will just continue working the ribbing -- there are no stitches that need to be picked up as a result of removing the cast-on.
August 15, 2011 -- I have added a third lace variation to the pattern, so the pattern now includes three different lace patterns. People who have already bought the pattern have been emailed a notification with instructions for re-downloading the updated pattern.
October 10, 2011 -- I have added a fourth lace variation to the pattern, so the pattern now includes four different lace patterns. For this variation I used a worsted weight yarn and went down one needle size.
