Modular knitting, the technique used in this scarf, is a fun and simple way to create unique designs with color stripes. This scarf combines modular knitting, shaping and lace to create a repeating diamond pattern. The example scarf uses a color-shift from dark, to medium to light of similar hues, then back to dark. A one-way color shift with five shades of the same hue will also work well, or choose a selection of coordinating colors to use up leftover yarns. Once you try module knitting you will be hooked and will have many ideas for additional designs.

Suitable yarns: The pattern is suitable for a natural fiber in worsted, light-worsted, or a furry DK or lighter weight yarn.

Skills required: Knit and Purl, increasing and decreasing via yo, k2tog, center decrease, slipped stitches, M1 (make a stitch).

Finished size: 7.5 inches wide by 51" inches long (20 cm x 130 cm)

Materials: To make the scarf as depicted, the following yarn amounts are needed:

Olive
