ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Amaranth Scarf alternates between simple Lace and Welt Sections to help avoid curling and keep Amaranth a quick knit. Lace charted and written. Named Amaranth because the lace panels evoke amaranth blooms. Amaranth is an ancient super-grain rich in fiber, protein and antioxidants that can thrive in just about any climate making it a valuable food crop. In fact, it is so valuable that it is one of the “Future 50 Foods: For Healthier People and a Healthier Planet”.

One size about 77” [195.5 cm] long by 9” [23 cm] wide (length is easily adjustable)
MATERIALS
Yarn: 500 yards [460 m] Sport weight
Sample scarf knit in Malabrigo Arroyo in the color 093 Fucsia and used about 150 g or 500 yards.
Needles: Size US 5 [3.75 mm] (or size needed to get gauge)
Other notions: stitch marker, tapestry needle
GAUGE
22 sts and 20 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Lace Section after blocking
22 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Welt Section after blocking
