Product Details

Sokol is the Russian word for “hawk“, and knowing this, it's not difficult to imagine where this name comes from. Falconers need to protect their arms and hands, so they need long mitts, padded with an extra layer of fabric.

Sokol mitts are knit in the round from the bottom up. The main part of the mitts are knit in plain stockinette, with just a few rounds of ribbing along the edges. The buckles are added at the end by turning the mitts 90º/270º and picking up stitches along the sides. They are knit flat across the width of the mitts and decreases are worked to form the tips. The tip of each buckle is attached with a button.
