I love owls and have enjoyed making owl mittens. Screech owls are tiny little balls of fluff who are still so fierce with a slightly spooky whinnying call. The mittens have a faced slit in the palm to allow your fingers to be free or covered. The size of the pattern can be adjusted by using larger or smaller needles.
