Great beginner project. Just uses knit and purl stitches but with the Recycled Silk, it looks like a very fancy project. Framed with a border of seed stitch(so it lays flat), the inside area of the rug is in stockinette.
I recycled this recycled yarn. After losing 65 pounds, I couldn't wear my knee length Mango Moon coat so I ripped the yarn and made 4 floor rugs. I found the rugs slippery on my hardwood floors, so I backed them with non-skid matting (cut from a large piece bought at Target) which I just basted around the outside and tacked about every 4 inches. It is stretchy so the backing helps it hold its shape too.
I double the yarn and use large size 15 needles. You can make a beautiful and less expensive version with the solid color silk colors too (or use one of each). Finished size is 19 by 32 inches.
Care: Hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry.
