The Aran superwash 220 charcoal is my go to yarn for male cardigans with intricate cable patterns. W will be making a third one One was size XL. Another was 4 TXL. The third is going to be TXL. I ORDERED TOO MUCH YARN but I wanted to be sure I had enough. So I made a pair of winter socks (to mid-calf) for my husband. He loves them: he said they keep his feet unusually warm (our floor gets cold in the winter). The yarn is warm to the touch. Not scratchy during working with it as well as during wearing. The one thing I was shocked by negatively is that the other Cascade 220 superwash yarns are 220 yards. The Aran one is 150 yards only. So, it’s 70 yards less. I needed to order from various sources to get enough. So the dye lot is also different. I should have ordered from my first source. But I was fooled by the seemingly lower price. Which it turns out to be more expensive in the end. No such thing as good deal.
Very soft and bouncy, easy to crochet with, almost a chunky weight rather than Aran.
Easy to work with, feel great, beatiful color
This is a great yarn to work with and it looks amazing in the blanket I am working on.
Knits up very well. I’ve had to rip out several times working on a pattern a bit higher than my abilities. It keeps its nice, soft feel and strength. I will be buying this again.
The wool is soft enough for a baby blanket. It’s also great that it can be washed.
