    About

The boys don't want knitted jumpers these days so I was more than happy to get a request for a 'Nanna hat'! He said that a shop hat 'wouldn't do' and he was very precise about the colours and the size and order of the stripes! Also there was to be no bobble ๐Ÿ˜†
Mum sent me a picture of the required hat (see photo)
I found this free pattern but worked the ribbed edging as a double thickness using provisional cast on, something I've never done before but will definitely use again. It gets around the issue of too tight a cast-on edge and I think having a turn up edge is annoying.
I used magic loop method but had some loose stitches where the different yarns were started. I started with 3 row stripes then reduced to 2 row, then 1 row, mainly to reduce the untidiness of the changeover yarns!
I tried to disguise the jogs but not very effectively
Anyway, all this will probably be lost on a 5 yr old! ๐Ÿ˜†
    Just hope it fits?

Lovely hat Jane, I love it that your grandson designed it too ๐Ÿ’™
I've tried hard with magic-loop ... can't master it well enough! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Your hat is fab', us knitters lean towards perfectionism ... your grandson will be super impressed with hi new hat! ๐Ÿฅฐ
