I wanted to knit a shawl in the lovely Madelintosh that's been in my stash for a while now. This is perfect!
Don't let this shawl intimidate you. It *is* worked both sides but only at the double YOs. You can purl right up until you get to that double YO and work the pattern for those. When I figured that out it went very quickly. It's a beautiful knit, I'd say slightly more advanced than intermediate, but certainly not difficult.
Also you *can* use markers. They move every chart repeat but they do keep you on track. When I was doing the WS I simply purled until I got to the double YOs (as explained above).
