Wild Island Textured Mittens

This pattern is an updated and improved version of my Classic Nordic Mittens. It includes both the textured pattern, and improved instructions for the thumb that eliminates the gap that can appear at the base.

Materials:

I tested this pattern on a number of common yarns, so I could verify the results, and I was surprised by, and pleased with, the differences produced by the various yarns.

All the yarns “worked”, and they all fit, but each felt distinctly different.

Alafoss Lopi: Light, delicate, but also strong, stretchy, and warm. Very lovely. One ball makes one pair.

Caron Chunky Cupcakes: This yarn produced mittens that were light, stretchy, and fun. Not as warm as other yarns, but great for days when it’s not super cold. One ball makes one pair.

Caron Spice Cakes: Lovely mittens. Warm, soft, great fit, very nice to knit. One ball made multiple pairs.

Loops & Threads Impressions: Definitely one of my favourites, as it had all the best elements. Soft, strong, stretchy, warm.
