Originally designed as part of 3 Kittens Needle Arts' S.O.B. Mystery Box 2021. S.O.B. stands for Spunky Old Broads. But for this scarf S.O.B. could also stand for Scrappy Old Bits, because you can use up lots of bits and pieces of fingering weight yarn in this scarf (as I did in the photographed sample).
The pattern calls for fingering weight yarn: one full-size skein (approx 400 yards) for the MC, and 25gram mini-hanks (approx 100 yards each) of nine contrasting colors. However, you could use less contrasting colors - just keep in mind that you will need 800-1000 total yards for the 72” long scarf.
The chevron pattern (or ripple pattern) is easy to learn. I have added notes on how to modify for a wider scarf or to use less colors. I highly recommend that you learn to weave your ends in as you go. There is a link provided in the pattern to a video tutorial on how to do this.
