MK#79 Baby Cardigan

Working top down, starting with a mostly knit 1 purl 1 rib neckband, the button bands are partly rib too, & the hem & cuffs include rib as well, but almost all the rest is stocking stitch. We do some easy short rows to elevate the back of the neck.

More than half way down the body, we do 20 rows including some purls on the front rows & knits on the back rows to create the hearts. When the knitting is finished, I suggest steaming the body to flatten the button edges & the stitches around the edges of the hearts, & then weave in the ends & sew on the buttons.

Depending on your yarn colour and button choices it will be suitable for a baby girl or boy.

Skill Level Easy… even though it might include a technique you haven't used before, the pattern contains simple, straightforward instructions and notes on where to look for more information.
